Elisabeth Rodriguez

Elisabeth Rodriguez – Timbalera

Boy Bands just like GIRL Bands, first start off with the APPEAL factor, naturally. BOY bands groomed and geared towards girls. GIRL bands towards boys. If the bands look good, sounds good and has good stage presence, then maybe you have a HIT. If after the show is over, that’s all it was, a show, then you have a FLOP.

Good or bad, many times the artistic value of the musicians is neither acknowledged or felt by the audience. This is simply because it was not expected to be. The audience came for the APPEAL factor, not the musicality of the group.
This is definitely NOT the case with the girl group known as Orquesta Canela.
Elisabeth Rodriguez ( aka. Elisabeth Delgado Tovar ) came from such a girl band. The girl band known as Orquesta Canela. At the age of 20 Elisabeth was invited to be part of the group. Because of her artistic ability, she was able to make a substantial contribution to the 13 piece band comprised solely of women.
She dances, sings, and is percussionist. Instrument of choice the Timbales.

Thanks to the tutelage and confidence by percussionists of the most important musical groups of Colombia, such as Grupo Niche, Guayacán Orchestra, She has been able to create her own Identity. Proving to others, that you could get ahead and thus demonstrate that women, with effort, passion and dedication can conquer any percussion instrument.

Percussion is usually categorized as a male dominated instruments. Point in case, if you glance at the roster of “ List of Exclusive Artists of LP” you can count 52 names, one of which is Elisabeth. And if you look closely you’ll notice that Elisabeth is the ONLY female!
